I’m Melissa Matej, a TBLS Board Certified Paralegal in Civil Trial Law with thirty years of experience supporting Texas litigators in state and federal commercial civil matters. My career is built on precision, integrity, and a deep respect for the legal community I’ve served for decades. I’ve supported attorneys through fast‑moving discovery and motion practice, urgent deadlines, and high‑stakes trials — and I take pride in being the reliable, steady presence they can trust when the pressure is on.

A native Texan, I’ve called Parker County home since 2003. All three of my sons graduated high school at an area high school, so I’ve spent quite a bit of time cheering on the band, supporting FFA projects, and shuttling boys from one place to another. Now, I’m a proud military mom and even prouder grandmother, as time with my family and grandkids is one of the greatest joys of my life. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me at the beach, plotting to go the beach, working on a creative graphic design project or market, or spending time with the close friends and family who keep me grounded and grateful.

Professionally, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside exceptional lawyers, including sixteen years with a large Fort Worth firm, working with the “Best” litigators at the firm. That experience sharpened my ability to jump into active cases, organize complex files, build trial notebooks, prepare exhibits, manage trial logistics, be the general, all-around gopher and get-it-done girl. I enjoy every phase of litigation—from early investigation to trial and even the meticulous work of appeals. Since 1994, I’ve worked in nearly every staff role imaginable—and I’ve loved every minute of it.

Meet Ruby

Ruby is my sweet goldendoodle and the unofficial heartbeat of TCP. We’ve been inseparable for five years now — truly instant besties. She’s never more than a foot away from me, whether I’m drafting motions, organizing case files, or trying to remember where I set my coffee. Ruby loves treats, walks, and car rides, and she’s paid exclusively in snacks, praise, and the occasional belly rub.

She gives hugs, keeps me grounded, helps me relax and refocus when the workload gets heavy, and reminds me to take a breather when I need it most. She may not handle legal research, but she’s absolutely essential to office morale.
